Melody against solos or Solos

B)Singing Melody of Solar over recording and/ or singing solos from Miles’ record

2. ”Solar” Studies
     
A) Students Improvise
         
a) Only Using Diatonic Notes ( see PDF # IV)
         
b) Making “Harmonic Shift”from Diatonic to Diminished Arpeggio ( see PDF#3)
                
c) Using b5 Subs on V7’s
   (see PDF#7) Thinking of Dorian ( or Melodic Minor) a half step above the V7 chord

3. “What Is This Thing Called Love” Phase #1.

A) Learning the Melody and Lyrics

a) Have Singers Sing Acapella Interpretations

b) Have Instrumentalists Play “Straight Melody” and “Simple Paraphrase.”

3. Talk about Melodic and Harmonic Minors.

a) Test Students Abilities to Play Them & Sing Them
