WHAT'S IN THIS CLASS
 
MC 22: Singing & Ear Training, Voice Leading Lines, “Target” Notes & Making “Wrong” Notes Sound Right, Rhythm Study: Billie’s Bounce

1. Singing and Ear Training

A) Students Sing Prez’ Solo on “Lady Be Good” , Bird’s “Yardbird Suite” ,or another solo of their choice.

B) We Drill Students on the Singing of WT , Minor, and Diminished Scales.
 
2. Harmonic Voice Leading Lines

A) Students Show Their Examples of HVLL  on”Cherokee”

B) We IDENTIFY Voice Leading Lines on II V I Ascending the Dorian Mode ( Part 1).

a) Bob gives examples and students try it too.

b) We introduce the concept of “Targeting.”

c) We show examples of how to use “Wrong” notes ( Also referred to as “Avoid”notes)

3. Listening

A) We listen to Lester’s  solos  on “Lester Leaps In” and “Boogie Woogie”.

B) We then listen to Bird’s “Billie’s Bounce”
 
C) Bob Continues to Demonstrate How to Practice “Incrementally Out of Tempo Using the Melody” on “Cherokee” then some of the students do this.

5. Rhythm Study

A) Students Clap or Tap Rhythms of Melody of “Billie’s Bounce”….  While singing melody then without singing melody

Master musician and teacher of all that is Jazz, Bob Mover, leads this workshop and masterclass while instructors Isaac Raz from Whole Music LLC & Jazz guitarist Gary Pierce assist.

This ia MUST HAVE for all musicians, especially if you want to learn to improvise.
