WHAT'S IN THIS CLASS
MC 21: Listening Specifically, Rhythm Studies & How To Practice A Song
1. Singing and Ear Training.
A) Students Sing Prez’ Solo on “Lady Be Good” , Bird’s “Yardbird Suite” ,or another solo of their choice.
B) We Drill Students on the Singing of WT , Minor, and Diminished Scales.
2. Harmonic Voice Leading Lines.
A) We Continue Creating HVLL on”Cherokee”
3. Listening
A) We listen to Lester’s solo on “Cherokee” w. Basie
B) Bob shows How to Practice With the Recording
C) Listening to theBlues
a) We listen to Lester’s “Boogie Woogie ”.We then listen to Bird’s “Billie’s Bounce”
4. Bob Demonstrates How to Practice “Incrementally Out of Tempo Using the Melody” on “Cherokee” then some of the students do this.
5. Rhythm Study.
A) Students Clap or Tap Rhythms of Melody of “Billie’s Bounce” While singing melody then without singing melody
B) Students Tap or Snap “Pockets”
a) Along with Recording of “Boogie Woogie”
i) Regular Pocket (Beats 2 & 4)
ii) Long Meter ”DeepPocket”( aka “The Slow Underneath”), (1/2 Time)
iii) Alternating the Two

Master musician and teacher of all that is Jazz, Bob Mover, leads this workshop and masterclass while instructors Isaac Raz from Whole Music LLC & Jazz guitarist Gary Pierce assist.
