MC 18: Sing Along with Bird, Rhythm Studies - Slap, Snap or Tap, House of Harmony: Building the Duplex

1. Singing.
   
A)Students Sing Prez’ Solo on “Lady Be Good” or another solo of their choice.
    
B)We listen to Bird’s “Yardbird Suite” and Sing the Head. Bob sings Bird’s solo and assigns it to the class to learn for next week.

2. Rhythm Study.

a) Students Clap or Tap along with “Yardbird Suite”a)Regular Pocket(Beats 2and4)
 
b) Long Meter”DeepPocket”( aka “The Slow Underneath”), (1/2 Time)

3. The House of Harmony.
    
A)Continuing to Build the “Duplex”

4. Isaac Demonstrates BH Scales ( PDF).
     
a) Using “Regular” V7 scales
      
b) Using b5 Substitute Scales

5. Bob Shows How ♭ 5th Sub can be used on Bridge of “Cherokee.”(PDF)
 
6. Use of “Scale Permutations” on ♭ 5th Sub Over II V I

Master musician and teacher of all that is Jazz, Bob Mover, leads this workshop and masterclass while instructors Isaac Raz from Whole Music LLC & Jazz guitarist Gary Pierce assist.

This is MUST HAVE for all musicians, especially if you want to learn to improvise.
